The Hayward W3SAS-CELL is the replacement salt cell for the Salt & Swim 3C chlorine generator, which Hayward makes for in-ground pools up to 30,000 gallons. Hayward's manual says the replaceable cell is designed to produce 200 lbs of 100% available chlorine over its lifetime.

Skip Dry Acid
Hayward discourages dry acid (sodium bisulfate) for pH adjustment, since the by-products can build up and damage your chlorinator cell.

What does the W3SAS-CELL fit?
It is the replacement cell for the Hayward Salt & Swim 3C. Hayward says the 3C is for in-ground pools up to 30,000 gallons and is not to be used with above-ground pools or larger in-ground pools.
How do I change the cell?
Per Hayward: remove power to the filter pump and unplug the control box, then remove the retaining nut, unplug the cell cap and take out the old cell. Slide in the new cell, plug the cap in and hand-tighten the nut. Run the pump about 5 minutes and check for leaks before you plug the control box back in.
Do I have to calibrate anything after a new cell?
Yes. When a new cell is installed, the Salt & Swim 3C runs a one-time flow switch calibration. You run the filter pump at full flow for at least 15 seconds, then turn it off for 15 seconds.
How do I know when the cell is spent?
The CELL LIFE LOW light on the Salt & Swim 3C comes on when the cell has reached the end of its life. Hayward says to replace it as soon as possible.
Can the cell be cleaned?
Hayward says scale can be flushed off with a high-pressure garden hose or scraped with a plastic or wood tool, never metal. A mild acid wash is only for severe cases where flushing and scraping do not work.

I accidentally broke the original **** by tightening it too much. This was a perfect fit and works 100%. Fast delivery too!
Swapped out broken heater (lasted about 6 years) for this one. The instructions are for the electronics, not for the plumbing. You must get everything perfectly aligned or the plumbing may leak. I needed to loosen the electronics box to get the plumbing perfectly aligned. I have hot water again.

PST pool supplies are great to work with. I was having trouble finding this heat exchanger . Everywhere I looked, it was out of stock or back ordered. I contacted the manufacturer about buying the heat exchanger. They told me I couldn't buy it because I wasn't a dealer. If I was a dealer, they would be able to take the order.
