Water Levelers for Swimming Pools
Keep your pool at the correct water level automatically with a pool water leveler from CMP, Pentair, Paramount, Jandy, and GQF Manufacturing. PST Pool Supplies stocks automatic float valves, complete AutoFill systems, portable water levelers, and level sensor kits that maintain your pool's water level 24/7 without manual intervention, starting from $20.60.
Pool water levelers work on the same principle as a toilet tank fill valve: a float-actuated valve opens when the water level drops below a set point, admits fresh water from the house supply line, and closes when the correct level is restored. The CMP thermoplastic float valve and CMP 1/2" float valve are the core fill valve components for built-in leveler installations, mounted inside a leveler housing in the pool wall or deck. CMP also offers leveler collars (gray, white) and covers (white, tan) as individual components for complete or replacement installations. The Aqualevel Portable Water Leveler (CMP, white) is a self-contained unit that hangs on the pool wall and connects to a garden hose — no installation required, ideal for pools without a built-in leveler or for seasonal use. The Pentair T26 AutoFill brass float valve is a premium brass float valve for built-in autofill installations, and the Pentair Automatic Water Filler with Fluidmaster Valve (black) provides a complete assembly with Fluidmaster's reliable toilet-style fill mechanism adapted for pool use. The Paramount Paralevel startup kit is the initial installation kit for Paramount's in-floor level system. The Jandy Pro Series solenoid kit and 2-contact level sensors (half-moon 100ft and slip-style 100ft) are electronic water level detection components used with Jandy automation systems to trigger the pool's fill valve via the controller rather than a simple float. The GQF float valve with restrictor seal provides precise flow restriction for applications requiring controlled fill rates.
Maintaining correct pool water level is critical for pump performance and safety: water that drops below the skimmer opening causes the pump to draw air rather than water, leading to loss of prime and potential pump cavitation damage — a pump run dry for even a few minutes can destroy its shaft seal and impeller. Conversely, water too high submerges the skimmer opening and eliminates surface skimming. The correct level is mid-skimmer — water should be at the center of the skimmer opening. An automatic water leveler handles daily evaporation losses (typically 1/4" to 1/2" per day in hot climates), backwash water loss, and splash-out without requiring the pool owner to monitor and manually add water. For pools connected to home automation systems, the Jandy sensor-based approach provides level monitoring through the automation controller dashboard.
