Swimline 5440 Submersible Pool Cover Pump, 500 GPH
Twice the flow for the covers that catch twice the water.
The Swimline 5440 submersible cover pump, stocked under SKU PST-SW5440, moves up to 500 GPH off a winter pool cover, double the output of the 250 GPH model, which matters on larger in ground covers and in regions that get real rainfall between freezes. It sits flat on the cover, is fully submersible, and discharges through a standard 3/4 in garden hose thread. The 25 ft power cord reaches from a deck outlet to the middle of the cover, where the water collects. Clearing standing water is the single best thing you can do to keep a winter cover from stretching, tearing at the grommets, or sagging into the pool.

Should I get the 500 GPH or the 250 GPH pump?
Go with 500 GPH for a large in ground cover or a wet climate. The 250 GPH model is fine for a small above ground cover that only sees light rain.
Does it shut off automatically?
No, it is a manual pump. Plug it in when water pools on the cover and unplug it when the cover is clear so the pump is not running dry.
Can I leave it out all winter?
Pull it once the cover is frozen over. A pump locked into ice can crack, and that damage is not covered under warranty.
