Description
Swimline 5420 Submersible Pool Cover Pump, 250 GPH
Half the electricity, all of the water gone.
The Swimline 5420 submersible cover pump, stocked under SKU PST-SW5420, sits flat on a winter pool cover and moves up to 250 GPH of rain and snowmelt off before the weight starts stretching the cover or pulling it into the pool. It is fully submersible and clog resistant, and it has only one moving part, so there is very little to service. The discharge is a standard 3/4 in garden hose thread and the 25 ft power cord lets the pump sit out where the water actually pools. It draws about half the electricity of a conventional motor driven winter cover pump.

Is 250 GPH enough for my cover?
For a typical residential cover in a normal rain, yes. If you get heavy downpours or you have a large in ground cover, step up to the 500 GPH model so the water clears faster.
Does the pump turn on by itself?
No. This is a manual pump, so plug it in when water collects and unplug it when the cover is clear. Do not leave it running dry.
What do I need besides the pump?
A standard garden hose for the discharge and a GFCI protected outlet, which NEC 680 requires for equipment used around a pool.
