The Superior Pump 92788 is a 3/4 HP submersible sump pump that moves up to 4800 GPH and cycles on its own, thanks to a tethered float switch that starts the pump at 16 in of water and stops it at 8 in. Stainless steel and cast iron construction and a clog resistant thermoplastic vortex impeller mean it handles the silt and debris that collect in a pool equipment vault, a window well, or a basement pit. The 2 in discharge is where the flow comes from, and the box includes 1-1/2 in NPT, 1-1/2 in barb, and 3/4 in garden hose adapters plus 25 ft of nylon rope.

Can I use this as a pool cover pump?
No. It needs about 16 in of water to trigger the float, and a cover never holds that much. Use a flat sitting cover pump for the cover and keep this one for pits and vaults.
How does the float switch work?
It is a tethered float that swings up as the water rises. It closes the circuit at roughly 16 in and opens it again near 8 in. The float needs clear space to move, so do not crowd it against the basin wall.
What size discharge line should I use?
The pump discharges at 2 in. Running full size 2 in line gives you the rated flow. The included 1-1/2 in adapters work fine but cost you some capacity.
Will it run dry?
The float shuts it off at about 8 in, which is what protects it. Never bypass the float and leave the pump plugged in unattended.
