SpaPure Multi Shock Extra 2 lb Dichlor Spa Shock with Clarifier
Buffered dichlor shock that will not move your pH.
SpaPure Multi Shock Extra (SKU PST-SPA5210CS20B2, MPN C005210-CS20B2) is a 2 lb multi function dichlor shock that doubles as a low dose maintenance sanitizer. It dissolves fast and acts fast, so it suits both jobs: a weekly shock to clear out accumulated waste, or a small routine dose to hold a sanitizer residual between treatments. Two details set it apart from a plain shock. It is buffered, so it should not shift pH after it goes in, which spares you the usual rebalancing afterward. And it carries built in water clarifiers, so the water comes back looking sharp rather than merely sanitized. It works alongside chlorine, bromine, ozone and mineral systems.

How much do I add to shock versus maintain?
Two different doses from the same container. To shock, add 2 oz (4 tablespoons) per 500 gallons weekly, or more often if the tub sees heavy use. To maintain, add 1/2 oz (3 teaspoons) per 500 gallons as needed to hold a 1 to 3 ppm sanitizer residual. Balance the water first, to pH 7.2 to 7.6 and alkalinity 100 to 120 ppm, then broadcast the granules across the whole surface with the pump running.
How is this different from Spa Oxidizing Shock?
This is the distinction buyers get wrong most often. Multi Shock Extra is a chlorine shock built on dichlor, so it both oxidizes waste and adds sanitizer to the water. SpaPure Spa Oxidizing Shock is a non chlorine oxidizer built on potassium monopersulfate, which burns off waste without adding any chlorine and lets you back in the water sooner. Use this one when you want the shock to also top up sanitizer, and the non chlorine version when you are trying to hold chlorine down or you run a mineral cartridge.
Will it throw my pH off?
It should not, and that is the point of the buffering. Unbuffered dichlor tends to pull pH down over repeated doses and leaves you correcting the water after every shock. This formula is buffered to land neutral, so a weekly shock will not send you back to the test kit. Still balance before you dose rather than after, and if the water has drifted, bring it back with SpaPure Alkalinity Increaser or SpaPure pH Down first. Never mix this or any shock with other chemicals in a scoop or bucket, and store it closed, cool and dry.
