SpaPure Alkalinity Increaser (SKU PST-SPA2693CS20B2, MPN C002693-CS20B2) is a 2 lb bottle of granular sodium bicarbonate that raises total alkalinity and keeps your pH parked where it belongs. Alkalinity is the buffer that holds pH in the ideal range, so even when today's pH reading looks fine, alkalinity that has drifted low or high will bounce that reading around, work on metal parts and heater components, and make the water less comfortable to sit in. The ultra fast dissolving granules broadcast straight over circulating water, play well with every sanitizer and oxidizing system, and the spa is ready to use immediately after application. How much Alkalinity Increaser do I add?
Add 1/2 oz (1 tablespoon) per 200 gallons of spa water to raise total alkalinity by 10 ppm. Turn the circulation on, broadcast the granules over the surface, and let the water turn over before you retest. Work up to a target of 125 to 150 ppm in stages rather than dumping a full correction at once, and the spa is ready to use immediately after the product goes in.
Should I correct alkalinity or pH first?
Alkalinity first, every time. Total alkalinity is the buffer that holds pH steady, so chasing a pH reading over an out of range alkalinity just puts you back where you started next week. Get total alkalinity into range with this product, let the water circulate, then fine tune pH from there with SpaPure pH Down if the reading lands high. Both products are compatible with all sanitizers and oxidizing systems, so they drop into whatever program you already run.
