SpaPure Stain & Scale Preventer 1 Quart (32 fl oz) Spa and Hot Tub Sequestrant
Pulls the metals out. Keeps the scale off.
SpaPure Stain & Scale Preventer (SKU PST-SPA3249CS20Q, MPN C003249-CS20Q) is a 1 quart (32 fl oz) liquid concentrate that handles two problems out of one bottle: it clears the dissolved iron, copper, and manganese that stain a spa shell, and it softens the scale that hard fill water leaves on your heater, jets, and plumbing. The sequestrant locks onto those metals and carries them out of the water through the spa filter, so the discoloration leaves with the cartridge instead of settling onto the acrylic. Dose it on every fresh fill and again each week and scale never gets a foothold around the jets or down inside the equipment where you cannot reach it. The concentrated, temperature tolerant formula is built for hot water instead of breaking down in it.

How much do I add, and how often?
On a fresh fill, add 2 to 3 oz per 100 gallons with the circulation running. After that, add 1 oz per 100 gallons weekly to keep new metals and scale from taking hold. A 400 gallon hot tub needs roughly 8 to 12 oz to start and about 4 oz per week, so this 32 oz quart covers the startup dose plus several weeks of maintenance. Always pour it into moving water rather than into a skimmer or a chemical feeder.
What is the difference between the 1 quart and the 1 pint?
Volume only. This listing is the 1 quart (32 fl oz) bottle, C003249-CS20Q. The same formula is also sold in a 1 pint (16 fl oz) bottle, C003249-CS40P, which we stock separately. The quart is the better pick if you are filling a spa from scratch on well water or high hardness city water, since the initial dose alone can take most of a pint.
Will it clean up stains and scale that are already there?
Yes. This is not prevention only. The formula erodes existing scale and lifts metallic staining and discoloration back into solution so the filter can take it out. Expect the water to go hazy for a short period after you dose it, which is normal and clears as the water turns over. Stubborn stains on the shell respond faster if you brush them with a spa brush after treatment. Clean or replace the filter after the water clears, since that is where the metals ended up. Request the Safety Data Sheet from the manufacturer for full handling and first aid detail.
