SpaPure Stain & Scale Preventer (SKU PST-SPA3249CS40P, MPN C003249-CS40P) is a 1 pint (16 fl oz) liquid sequestrant that does both jobs at once: it softens and erodes the scale already sitting on your shell and heater, and it locks up the metals that turn spa water brown, green, or gray. The concentrated formula binds iron, copper, manganese, and excess calcium hardness so your filter carries them out of the water instead of letting them plate onto surfaces. Used weekly it keeps scale from building where it does the most damage, around the jets and inside the plumbing and heater. It is temperature tolerant, so it keeps working at spa operating temperatures where thinner formulas break down.

Should I buy the 1 pint or the 1 quart?
This listing is the 1 pint (16 fl oz) bottle, MPN C003249-CS40P. The same formula also comes in a 1 quart (32 fl oz) bottle, MPN C003249-CS20Q, which is twice the volume. Do the math on your own spa: a 400 gallon tub needs about 4 oz a week at the maintenance rate, so a pint covers roughly a month of weekly dosing, while a fresh fill at 2 to 3 oz per 100 gallons uses 8 to 12 oz in one shot. If you are treating a new fill on well water or you dose year round, buy the quart. If you top off occasionally or run a smaller spa, the pint is the right size.
How much do I add, and will it clear stains that are already there?
For a new fill, or to work on staining and scale that has already formed, add 2 to 3 oz per 100 gallons directly to the water with the circulation running. After that, add 1 oz per 100 gallons weekly to keep metals sequestered and scale off the surfaces. Balance your pH and total alkalinity first so the product is not fighting out of range water. The water can go temporarily hazy after dosing, which is normal, so circulate for at least an hour and let the filter pull the bound metals out. Heavy old scale may still need a pass with a spa brush after the product has softened it.
Will it work with my sanitizer, and how do I handle it safely?
It is compatible with most spa sanitizing systems, so it drops into a chlorine, bromine, or mineral program without changing what you already run. Add it directly to the spa water, never into a skimmer, floater, or feeder. This is a low pH concentrate, so wear eye protection and gloves and never mix it with other chemicals in the same bottle or pail. Store it closed in a cool, dry spot away from children and pets, and request the Safety Data Sheet from the manufacturer for full handling and first aid detail.
