How does the Spa Frog mineral cartridge actually work?
It sits in the hollow center of your spa's filter cartridge. Every time the pump runs, water is drawn through the openings in the cap and the scooped louvers, circulated across a silver mineral formula, and returned to the spa. The minerals kill bacteria and help hold pH, so you can run a much lower bromine or chlorine level.
Will this fit my spa filter?
It is designed to drop into the open center core of most suction-side and pressure-side spa filter cartridges. If your cartridge has a hollow core (the vast majority do), the mineral cartridge slides right in. It is rated for spas up to 600 gallons.
Can I use this as my only sanitizer?
No. The mineral cartridge reduces how much sanitizer you need, but it does not replace it. Keep a low residual of about 1 PPM bromine or 0.5 PPM chlorine in the water at all times and test regularly. The minerals plus that low residual do the job together.
How often do I replace it?
Every 4 months, which lines up neatly with a typical spa drain and refill. Set the reminder dial when you install it so you always know when the 4 months are up.
