No, and it should not. UV and ozone are in-line sanitizers, they treat water as it passes through the chamber but leave no residual in the pool itself. You still maintain a low free-chlorine residual (around 1 ppm) for in-pool protection between turnovers. Most owners report cutting their chlorine use by up to 80%.
What pool size and pump does the UV4000A work with?
It is rated for inground pools up to 35,000 gallons with a flow rate between 20 and 120 GPM. That covers virtually every residential single-pump installation, including variable-speed pumps run at low RPM. Where in the plumbing loop does this install?
On the return side, downstream of the filter and heater, so the UV chamber sees clean, heated water and the treated water goes straight back to the pool. Standard 2 in PVC unions on either side of the chamber make service straightforward. Always install per the included manual and local code.
Can I install the UV4000A myself?
The plumbing side is straightforward for an experienced DIY pool owner, two 2 in PVC connections on the return line.
