The Solaxx CLG220A Reliant AG (SKU PST-CLG220A) is the above-ground variant of the Reliant salt chlorine generator line, sized for residential pools up to 20,000 gallons and shipped with the install kit and 110V plug intended for above-ground installations. It produces 1.15 lb of chlorine per 24 hours on a universal 90-260 VAC switch-mode power supply, with operating ranges of 500-6,000 ppm salt and 50-90 F water temperature. The control box uses Solaxx's tinted anti-UV face plate, an 8-step output dial, and a Super Chlor button for full-output cycles when bather load spikes.

Installation Notice
All 90-260 VAC pool equipment must be installed on a GFCI-protected circuit per NEC 680, and the cell housing must be bonded to the pool equipotential grid. Plumb the flow cell downstream of the filter and heater, never on the suction side. Do not run a 5.5kW or other high-amperage heater on the same 115V circuit as the salt cell.

How is the CLG220A different from the CLG225A Saltron Reliant?
Both produce the same 1.15 lb of chlorine per 24 hours and share identical voltage, salt, and temperature ranges. The differences are positioning and warranty: the CLG220A (Reliant AG) is shipped as the above-ground kit, rated for 20,000 gallons, with a 2-year warranty. The CLG225A (Saltron Reliant) is the inline inground unit rated for 25,000 gallons with a 3-year warranty. Same electronics, different install kit and coverage.
What salt level should I run?
The cell operates from 500 ppm to 6,000 ppm, but Solaxx's recommended set point is around 3,000-3,500 ppm for most installations. Test with a digital meter or strip designed for pool salt, and add salt slowly with the pump running. Adding too much salt is the most common rookie mistake, and the only fix is dilution by partial drain and refill.
Can I install this on an inground pool?
Technically yes, the electronics are identical to the CLG225A. But the install kit shipped with the CLG220A is sized for above ground hose connections and the warranty is one year shorter. If your pool is inground, the CLG225A is the right SKU because you get the inline cell housing, full plumbing, and a 3-year warranty for the same chlorine output and electrical envelope.
Does the unit work below 50 F water temperature?
No. The temperature sensor shuts production down below 50 F to protect the cell. Plates are less efficient in cold water and continuous low-temp operation accelerates cell wear. For year-round indoor pools or warm-climate use this is rarely an issue; for seasonal outdoor pools, the system simply pauses during cold snaps and resumes when water warms back up.
Can I install this myself?
If you are comfortable cutting 1.5 in or 2 in PVC and have an existing GFCI-protected outlet rated for the cell, yes. You will plumb the cell downstream of the filter and heater, mount the control box within the included cable length, and bond the cell to the pool equipotential grid. New circuits, hardwiring, or bonding work should go to a licensed electrician per NEC 680.
