S.R. Smith Residential Challenge Pool Basketball Game, Polished Stainless (BASK-CH)
Dual-post stainless hoop for the shallow end.
The S.R. Smith Residential Challenge Pool Basketball Game (BASK-CH) is a Swim N' Dunk dual-post hoop with a one-piece, polished 304 stainless steel frame and a SealedSteel Salt Friendly vinyl-coated rim. S.R. Smith designs it for in-ground pools at shallow water depth areas, with the anchors set 12 inches back from the pool edge, and it drops into existing Swim N' Dunk anchors. S.R. Smith lists anchors with caps as included.
Polished finish on 1.90 in OD tubing, dual-post design.
One-Piece Stainless Frame
The Residential Challenge frame is a continuous, single-piece rail in polished 304 stainless steel, built from 1.90-inch OD tubing on two posts. S.R. Smith uses the one-piece frame for quick and simple installation. Its instructions call for the included anti-seize on all hardware to prevent galling of the stainless steel, and for the backboard and rim to be leveled before the anchor wedge bolts and backboard bolts are fully tightened.
Vinyl-Coated Rim
A Rim Built for Salt
The rim is S.R. Smith's SealedSteel Salt Friendly vinyl-coated rim, which S.R. Smith fits for added durability in harsh environments. The installation instructions list it as the black vinyl Salt Friendly rim, bolted through the backboard to the post mounting plate with four 316 stainless steel tap bolts. Only the rim carries the salt-friendly coating: S.R. Smith lists this polished stainless frame as not salt friendly and sells a separate Residential Salt Friendly game for that.
Anchor sockets sit 12 in back from the pool edge on residential installs.
Fits Your Existing Anchors
The Challenge game installs in existing Swim N' Dunk basketball hoop anchors and uses deck anchors from past S.R. Smith games, so it suits a retrofit. On a new deck, the dual posts sit in 6-inch deep anchor sockets set 12 inches back from the pool edge, bonded per local codes, with the tightening wedges facing away from the pool. To clear the deck, lift the game out and cap the anchors for a flush look.
Who It's For
Shallow-End Play
S.R. Smith designs the Challenge game for in-ground pools, installed at shallow water depth areas.
Swim N' Dunk Retrofits
If your deck already has Swim N' Dunk or earlier S.R. Smith game anchors, the Challenge frame installs into them.
Seasonal Setups
Lift the game out of its anchors and replace it with anchor caps when you want a flush, clear deck.
Why PST Customers Pick This
Clear Acrylic Backboard
The backboard is clear acrylic with screen printing, mounted in a square backboard frame.
Competition Grade Net
S.R. Smith's instructions list a competition grade basketball net for the game.
Ball and Needle Included
S.R. Smith's frame package (69-209-197) includes the frame, a basketball and an inflation needle.
Basic Hand Tools
Assembly calls for a 1/2 inch standard wrench, a 1/2 inch socket wrench and a 7/32 inch Allen wrench.
Anti-Seize Included
S.R. Smith includes anti-seize for all hardware pieces to prevent galling of the stainless steel.
Inspect It Periodically
S.R. Smith asks owners to periodically inspect the rim, backboard and posts for worn parts and keep all hardware properly tightened.
Safety and Installation
S.R. Smith intends this game for shallow water depth areas only. Never dive or jump from any part of the unit, and never hang, climb or stand on the backboard, braces, rim or net. Remove rings, watches and necklaces during play, since they can tangle in the net. Anchor sockets must be bonded per local codes, and S.R. Smith states that an improper installation voids its warranty and may affect user safety.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Residential Challenge game salt friendly?
The rim is: S.R. Smith fits a SealedSteel Salt Friendly vinyl-coated rim. Its installation instructions list the polished stainless Challenge Residential dual-post frame as not salt friendly. For a salt pool, S.R. Smith offers a separate Residential Salt Friendly Pool Basketball Game with a black vinyl frame.
Will it fit the anchors already in my deck?
S.R. Smith says the Challenge game installs in existing Swim N' Dunk basketball hoop anchors and uses existing deck anchors from past S.R. Smith games for a retrofit.
Are anchors included?
Yes. S.R. Smith lists anchors as included with BASK-CH (69-209-199, anchor with cap). On a new install the anchor sockets go 12 inches back from the pool edge to the anchor center, are bonded per local codes, and the concrete must cure before the game goes in.
What kind of pool is it for?
S.R. Smith designs the Challenge game for in-ground pools, installed in shallow water depth areas.
What do I need to assemble it?
A 1/2 inch standard wrench, a 1/2 inch socket wrench and a 7/32 inch Allen wrench. S.R. Smith includes anti-seize for the hardware, and says not to set the acrylic backboard on concrete or other rough surfaces; the packaging cardboard makes a good work surface.
Can I take it down when I am not using it?
Yes. S.R. Smith says to lift the game out of the anchors and replace it with anchor caps for a flush look.
