Propane gas piping and electrical connections must be installed by a licensed gas technician and licensed electrician per NFPA 54 (National Fuel Gas Code) and NEC Article 680 for pool equipment bonding. Improper venting clearance, undersized gas supply, or missing bonding can produce carbon monoxide, cause heater shutdowns, and void Raypak's warranty. This heater is rated for elevations of 0 to 2,000 feet only, do not install above 2,000 feet without the correct high-altitude orifice kit.

What is the difference between the P-R206A-EP-C (009224) and the P-M206A-EP-C (009974) or P-D206A-EP-C (009946)?
All three are 199,500 BTU propane Digital 206A heaters. The P-R206A-EP-C (009224) uses copper tubes with polymer headers, the P-M206A-EP-C (009974) uses cupro-nickel tubes with polymer headers for harder water and salt pools, and the P-D206A-EP-C (009946) is the same copper build with cupro-nickel upgrades for some commercial use. Pick the 009224 for standard chlorinated residential water chemistry.
What pool size is the Raypak 206A rated for?
At 199,500 BTU input and 82% efficiency, the 206A is sized for residential pools up to roughly 20,000 gallons in moderate climates. For pools over 25,000 gallons, look at the 266A, 336A, or 406A models in the same series. Spa-only and pool/spa combo installations use this model heavily because it brings a spa to 104 F quickly.
Can this heater run on natural gas instead of propane?
No. The EP in P-R206A-EP-C means the unit is factory-built and certified for liquid propane only. The matching natural gas model is the P-R206A-EN-C (009217). Field-converting between gas types is not supported by Raypak.
Will this work at my elevation?
The 009224 is rated for 0 to 2,000 feet only. Raypak builds separate high-altitude SKUs for 2,000 to 3,000 ft (009228), 3,000 to 5,000 ft, and 5,000 to 7,000 ft. Confirm your install elevation before ordering, the orifices are not interchangeable in the field.
Can I install this heater myself?
No. Propane gas piping must be sized, sealed, and pressure-tested by a licensed gas technician per NFPA 54, and the electrical hookup plus pool bonding must follow NEC Article 680. Self-installation typically voids the Raypak warranty and creates real carbon-monoxide and electrocution risk. What size propane line and tank do I need?
Raypak specifies a manifold pressure that requires at least 11 inches water column of supply pressure for propane.
