King Technology Perform-Max 960 In-Ground Off-Line Chemical Feeder
Set it once. Swim all season.
The King Technology Perform-Max 960 (MPN 01-05-0960, SKU PST-01050960) is an in-ground, off-line chlorine and bromine tablet feeder built for larger pools that need steady, hands-off sanitation. It holds a full 10 pounds of slow-dissolving trichlor tablets or bromine tablets and doses your water at a consistent 1.0 to 3.0 ppm through King Technology's patented Performance Valve. Because the 960 plumbs off-line with 2" female threaded ports, it feeds sanitizer without cutting into your main return line the way an in-line unit does.
Why PST Customers Pick This
Patented Performance Valve
The Performance Valve erodes only the bottom layer of tablets, so output stays predictable instead of spiking when the whole load gets wet. That is what lets you dial in a stable chlorine or bromine level and hold it.
9 Precise Dial Settings
A wide-range control dial lets you fine-tune output in 1/2-increment steps until your reading stabilizes, giving you far more control than a simple open-or-closed bulk chlorinator.
Chlorine or Bromine
Run slow-dissolving 1" tablets, 3" trichlor pucks, or bromine tablets. For bromine, bleed the cap knob to soak all the tablets, exactly how bromine performs best.
Off-Line Kit Included
Every feeder ships with the full off-line kit: two male adapters, two reducer bushings, two 90-degree elbows, four hose clamps, 6 feet of tubing, and two venturi scoops with gaskets and clamps.
Big 10 lb Capacity
The 10-pound holding tube means fewer refills across a long season on a 50,000-gallon pool, so you spend less time hauling tablets and more time swimming.
Feeds Off Your Return Line
Bi-flow venturi scoops tap into a straight section of return pipe 2 to 36 inches apart, drawing a slip stream through the feeder without splicing a chlorinator body into the main plumbing run.
Chemical Safety
Use only slow-dissolving trichlor tablets, trichlor pucks, or bromine tablets in this feeder. Never load calcium hypochlorite, liquid bleach, cal-hypo shock, or fast-dissolving tablets, mixing incompatible chlorine types generates heat and hazardous gas and can cause fire or explosion. Keep return-line valves open to relieve pressure, never exceed 50 psi or 104F, and always shut off the pump and bleed off pressure before removing the cap. Install the feeder after the heater on the return line, never before it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Perform-Max 960 different from the 940, 920, and 980?
The 960 is the off-line model, it feeds off a slip stream from your return line and suits pools up to 50,000 gallons on chlorine or 20,000 gallons on bromine. The 940 is the in-line version for the same size pools, the 920 is a smaller in-line unit for pools up to 25,000 gallons, and the 980 is an in-line unit sized for 1-1/2" plumbing. Choose the 960 when you want to add a feeder without cutting a chlorinator body into your main return pipe.
What size pool and what chemicals does it handle?
It is rated for pools up to 50,000 gallons using chlorine and up to 20,000 gallons using bromine. Load it with slow-dissolving 1" trichlor tablets, 3" trichlor pucks, or bromine tablets, up to 10 pounds at a time. Do not use fast-dissolving tablets, liquid bleach, or calcium hypochlorite.
Can I install this feeder myself?
Many pool owners install the 960 themselves using the included off-line kit, a drill with a 19/32" or 5/8" bit, PVC primer and cement, pipe thread sealant, and a pipe wrench. You drill two holes 2 to 36 inches apart on a straight section of return pipe and mount the venturi scoops facing each other. If you are unsure about your plumbing or local building codes, have a pool professional handle it, and always confirm connections meet code before pressurizing.
Why choose an off-line feeder over an in-line one?
An off-line feeder like the 960 draws a small slip stream off your return line through venturi scoops, so you avoid splicing a pressurized chlorinator body directly into the main plumbing run. It also mounts on a base beside your equipment pad, which makes refills and servicing easy. Install a corrosion-resistant check valve to reduce chlorine-gas backflow toward the heater or filter when the feeder is off.
How do I set the dial for bromine versus chlorine?
For chlorine, start at dial setting #4 and let the feeder erode only the bottom layer of tablets. For bromine, start at setting #2 and bleed the air from the cap knob while the pump runs until water appears, bromine works best as a soaking feeder with all tablets wetted. Adjust the dial in 1/2 increments each day until your reading holds between 1.0 and 3.0 ppm.
