The King Technology Perform-Max 960 (MPN 01-05-0960, SKU PST-01050960) is an in-ground, off-line chlorine and bromine tablet feeder built for larger pools that need steady, hands-off sanitation. It holds a full 10 pounds of slow-dissolving trichlor tablets or bromine tablets and doses your water at a consistent 1.0 to 3.0 ppm through King Technology's patented Performance Valve. Because the 960 plumbs off-line with 2" female threaded ports, it feeds sanitizer without cutting into your main return line the way an in-line unit does.

Chemical Safety
Use only slow-dissolving trichlor tablets, trichlor pucks, or bromine tablets in this feeder. Never load calcium hypochlorite, liquid bleach, cal-hypo shock, or fast-dissolving tablets, mixing incompatible chlorine types generates heat and hazardous gas and can cause fire or explosion. Keep return-line valves open to relieve pressure, never exceed 50 psi or 104F, and always shut off the pump and bleed off pressure before removing the cap. Install the feeder after the heater on the return line, never before it.

The 940 is the in-line version for the same size pools, the 920 is a smaller in-line unit for pools up to 25,000 gallons, and the 980 is an in-line unit sized for 1-1/2" plumbing. What size pool and what chemicals does it handle?

Can I install this feeder myself?
Many pool owners install the 960 themselves using the included off-line kit, a drill with a 19/32" or 5/8" bit, PVC primer and cement, pipe thread sealant, and a pipe wrench. You drill two holes 2 to 36 inches apart on a straight section of return pipe and mount the venturi scoops facing each other. If you are unsure about your plumbing or local building codes, have a pool professional handle it, and always confirm connections meet code before pressurizing.

How do I set the dial for bromine versus chlorine?
For chlorine, start at dial setting #4 and let the feeder erode only the bottom layer of tablets. For bromine, start at setting #2 and bleed the air from the cap knob while the pump runs until water appears, bromine works best as a soaking feeder with all tablets wetted. Adjust the dial in 1/2 increments each day until your reading holds between 1.0 and 3.0 ppm.
