The Pentair 271148 Spider Gasket (SKU: PST-APCG3338) is the OEM-style diverter seal that fits inside 2 inch PacFab, American Products, and Sta-Rite SM-20 and TM-22 multiport valves. When water bypasses positions, geysers out the backwash line, or pushes dirty water back to the pool, a worn spider gasket is almost always the cause. Replace it with this 5-spoke molded rubber gasket and your valve sends water exactly where the handle says it should: filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate, or closed.

Which multiport valves does this 271148 spider gasket fit?
It fits Pentair, PacFab, and American Products 2 inch SM-20 side mount and TM-22 top mount multiport valves, plus the Sta-Rite 2 inch multiport (where it cross references to 14971-SM20E12). It does not fit 1.5 inch multiport valves or the larger HiFlow models, which use a different gasket.
What are the signs that my spider gasket needs to be replaced?
The most common symptoms are dirty water returning to the pool after backwash, water continuously running out the waste/backwash line, the pressure gauge bouncing, or the valve handle being hard to turn. A flattened, cracked, or distorted rubber gasket is the cause in almost every case.
Do I need to glue the gasket in place?
Yes. On almost all PacFab and Sta-Rite 2 inch valves the spider gasket must be bonded into the diverter groove with a rubber-safe gasket adhesive (such as 3M Super Weatherstrip or equivalent). Clean the groove of all old rubber and adhesive first, dry-fit the new gasket, then glue, clamp, and let it cure before reassembling.
