Description
Omega Non-Toxic Pool Antifreeze, 1 Gallon, -50 Degrees F
Insurance for the water you could not blow out.
Omega non-toxic pool antifreeze, part OMG306766 and stocked under SKU PST-OMG306766, is a 1 gallon blue winterizing antifreeze rated to -50 degrees F. It goes into skimmers, return lines, and traps after the plumbing has been blown out, so the little bit of water that always stays behind cannot freeze, expand, and crack a fitting. Non-toxic means it is formulated for pool and spa plumbing, unlike automotive antifreeze, which is poisonous and must never go near a pool. Antifreeze is a backup to a proper blowout, not a substitute for one.

Can I use car antifreeze instead?
No. Automotive antifreeze is ethylene glycol and it is toxic to people, pets, and wildlife. Only non-toxic pool antifreeze belongs anywhere near pool plumbing.
Does antifreeze replace blowing out the lines?
No. Blow the lines out first, then add antifreeze to protect whatever water is left behind. Antifreeze in a line still full of water is diluted to the point of being useless.
Do I need to drain it in the spring?
Pump it out or flush it to waste at opening rather than sending it through the filter and into the pool. One gallon typically handles the skimmer and return lines on an average residential pool.
