The Little Giant 5-MSP Water Wizard is the utility pump pool pros reach for when a cover pump is not enough: 1/6 HP moving up to 1200 GPH through an epoxy coated die-cast aluminum housing. It drains a flooded cover, empties a spa or a hot tub, lowers a pool below the skimmer for closing, and clears a window well the rest of the year. Is the 5-MSP automatic?
No. It is a manual utility pump, so it runs whenever it is plugged in. If you need it to cycle on its own, pair it with an external float switch or choose a pump with an integral switch.
Can I use it to lower my pool for closing?
Yes, that is one of its best uses. Set it on the step or the bottom, thread a garden hose onto the discharge, and run the water well away from the pool so it does not soak back around the walls.
How low does it pump down?
The 5-MSP is a utility pump, not a flat suction cover pump, so it leaves a shallow layer behind. For the last inch off a cover, use a dedicated cover pump.
Why aluminum instead of plastic?
The epoxy coated aluminum housing tolerates rough handling and dissipates motor heat, which is exactly what a pump needs when it runs for hours draining a pool.
