Jonas winter closing kit #2, part NJ2602C4 and stocked under SKU PST-NJ2602C4, packages the closing chemistry for a pool up to 15,000 gallons, which covers most residential above ground pools and small in ground pools. It contains 1/2 gallon of 20 percent polyquat winter algaecide, 1 pint of stain and scale preventer, and 2.5 lb of buffer and borate tabs with a floating canister. Together they handle the three things that go wrong on a closed pool: algae takes hold, dissolved metals and hardness come out of solution onto the surfaces, and pH drifts with nothing circulating to hold it steady.

How do I know my pool volume?
For a rectangle, multiply length by width by average depth by 7.5. For a round pool, multiply diameter by diameter by average depth by 5.9. Round up when choosing a kit.
What is the difference between kit #1, #2, and #3?
Dose size. Kit #1 treats up to 7,500 gallons, kit #2 up to 15,000, and kit #3 up to 30,000 with a larger algaecide charge and more borate tabs.
Do I still need to balance the water first?
Yes. Get pH, alkalinity, and calcium hardness in range and shock the pool before any of these products go in. Closing chemicals cannot fix water that was out of balance going into the winter.
