Jonas winter closing kit #1, part NJ2601C4 and stocked under SKU PST-NJ2601C4, is the complete chemical package for closing a pool up to 7,500 gallons. Inside are 1 quart of 20 percent polyquat winter algaecide to hold algae back through the offseason, 1 pint of stain and scale preventer to keep dissolved metals and hardness in solution instead of on your surfaces, and 2.5 lb of buffer and borate tabs with a floating canister to steady pH while nothing is circulating. Buying the kit costs less than the three pieces separately and takes the guesswork out of dosing.

Is this kit sized for my pool?
Kit #1 covers pools up to 7,500 gallons, which is typical for a small above ground pool. Larger pools should step up to kit #2 at 15,000 gallons or kit #3 at 30,000 gallons.
What order do the chemicals go in?
Balance the water first, then shock. Once the chlorine has come back down, add the stain and scale preventer, then the algaecide, then float the borate tab canister. Run the pump throughout.
What do the borate tabs do?
Borates buffer pH, which drifts on a closed pool with no circulation and no testing. Steady pH means the algaecide and the stain and scale preventer both keep working.
