Holds pH steady while nothing is circulating.
The Jonas 1-1/2 lb winter BorateTab cartridge, part NJP0100101 and stocked under SKU PST-NJP0100101, is a prefilled borate cartridge that floats on the surface of a closed pool and buffers pH through the winter. pH drifts when a pool sits with no circulation and no testing, and drifting pH is what undermines the algaecide and the stain and scale preventer you paid for at closing. Borates hold the line and also make the water less hospitable to algae. The floating collar, part NJP10030, is required and is sold separately. This size suits smaller pools.

What do borates actually do?
They buffer pH, so it resists the upward drift that happens on a closed pool. Steady pH keeps your algaecide and stain and scale preventer working the way they were dosed to.
Which size should I buy?
This is the 1-1/2 lb cartridge for smaller pools. Jonas also offers a 3 lb cartridge for larger volumes. Match the cartridge to your pool size rather than stretching one across too much water.
Do I need the collar?
Yes. Every one of these cartridges requires the floating collar, part NJP10030, which is sold separately and is reusable season after season.
