IG Aquador Kit, Hayward SP1085, Aquador part AQ1085 is part of the Aquador skimmer cover system, stocked under SKU PST-AQ1085. An Aquador mounts over the skimmer throat and seals it off with a snap on lid, so pool water never enters the skimmer once the pool is closed. That means you can leave the water at its normal level through the winter instead of draining below the skimmer, which is easier on the liner, easier on the cover, and a much shorter job in spring. Skimmer faces are not interchangeable between brands, so match the model in the part name to the skimmer you actually have.

Do I still have to drop the water below the skimmer?
That is the whole point of an Aquador. With the skimmer sealed off, the water can stay near its normal level, so the cover is supported, the liner is not left standing in the cold, and you are not refilling half a pool in spring. Follow your normal routine for the return lines and the skimmer plumbing below the cover.
Which Aquador fits my skimmer?
Match the model in the part name. In ground pools usually run the Hayward SP1084 or SP1085 face, and above ground skimmers split into standard, wide mouth, and brand specific shapes such as Doughboy. Measure the skimmer opening if the brand is not marked, because the faceplate has to sit flat against the wall to seal.
Is the lid sold separately from the kit?
Yes. Complete kits are listed as kits, and replacement lids are listed as lids, so read the part name before ordering. If your faceplate is still solid and only the lid is cracked or lost, the lid alone puts you back in service.
