The FROG® @ease® Replacement SmartChlor® Cartridge (MPN 01-14-3258, PST SKU PST-01143258) is the sanitizing cartridge that drops into your @ease Floating Sanitizing System and keeps your spa clean for weeks with almost no fuss. Inside is SmartChlor® Technology, a patented, self-regulating chlorine that holds a steady 0.5 to 1.0 ppm free chlorine and releases more only when bather demand calls for it. Paired with FROG® Minerals, it kills bacteria two ways, so you use up to 75% less chlorine and shock only about once a month.

Combining chlorine products or contaminating a cartridge with moisture, oil, or organic debris can trigger heat, fire, or toxic gas. Load the cartridge directly into the floating system per the King Technology instructions, handle it with dry hands, store it away from acids and other pool or spa chemicals, and keep it out of reach of children and pets.

How long does a SmartChlor cartridge last?
A SmartChlor cartridge lasts about 3 to 4 weeks, depending on how large your spa is, how many people use it, and your water source. When the cartridge runs out, the floating system flips over so you know exactly when to replace it.
Is this the cartridge for the Floating system or the In-Line system?
This is the SmartChlor cartridge for the FROG® @ease® Floating Sanitizing System, the version that floats in the spa and flips over when depleted. The In-Line @ease system uses a different SmartChlor cartridge that seats in a cartridge holder, so match the cartridge to the system you own before ordering.
Do I still need the FROG mineral cartridge and monthly shock?
Yes. SmartChlor supplies the steady low chlorine, and the FROG® mineral cartridge kills bacteria the second way, so the two are meant to run together. Minerals last about four months or until you drain and refill, and you should still shock about once a month and after heavy use to clear organics.
Why does my chlorine read so low with this system?
That is by design. SmartChlor holds a steady 0.5 to 1.0 ppm free chlorine, far lower than a typical dichlor spa, because the FROG minerals do part of the sanitizing. Use FROG @ease test strips rather than a standard high-range chlorine test so you are reading the correct range.
Can I install this cartridge myself?
Yes, and no tools are involved. Lift the floating system out of the water, remove the empty SmartChlor cartridge, and press this fresh one into place. Handle it with dry hands, do not touch the chlorine core, set the dial for your spa size, wash up, and return the system to the water.
