Copper Staining Caution
This is a copper-based algaecide. Do NOT use it alongside another copper-based algaecide or a mineral system, and do not overdose it, or the copper can plate out and stain pool surfaces. Test your water for metals first and hold pH between 7.2 and 7.8 before and after application, since low pH or high metal content lets the copper oxidize and stain. Brush the walls and floor before and after dosing so the formula can penetrate and kill the algae. Keep out of reach of children and follow all label directions.

Is Algae Gone for curing algae or preventing it?
Algae Gone is the curative product. Reach for it when you already have an active green or yellow algae outbreak or a green pool. Once the water is clear, switch to the FROG 90-Day Algae Barrier to keep algae from coming back. In short: Algae Gone clears it, the 90-Day Algae Barrier prevents it.
How many pods do I need for my pool?
Use one pod per 10,000 gallons. This 20,000-gallon unit includes 2 pods, so a pool up to 20,000 gallons gets treated in one shot. For a 10,000-gallon pool you would use a single pod and keep the other for the next outbreak.
Does it work with a salt pool or bromine spa setup?
Yes. Algae Gone is compatible with chlorine, bromine, and salt pools. The one thing to avoid is stacking it with another copper-based algaecide or a mineral sanitizer system, since combining copper sources raises the risk of staining.
Can I use this myself, or do I need a pro?
You can absolutely do it yourself. Balance your pH to 7.2 to 7.8, brush the pool walls and floor, drop the pod into the skimmer basket, and let it dissolve over about 24 hours. Brush again afterward and scoop out the empty pod. No special equipment and no plumbing required.
Will it stain my pool?
It will not if you follow the label. Because the formula is copper-based, staining risk only comes up if you double up on copper products, run low pH, have high metal content in the fill water, or overdose. Test for metals, keep pH in range, and use only the labeled amount and your surfaces stay clean.
