The Filbur FC-9865 (PST-APCFGR56) is an 18 x 22 inch rectangular replacement DE filter grid built for Sta-Rite and Swimquip center-port DES and DEP diatomaceous earth filters. It seats on your existing manifold through the center exit port and rebuilds the filtration surface with the same fine polypropylene cloth the OEM grid used, so your pump runs at design flow and your water comes back crystal clear. How many grids does my filter take, and should I replace them all at once?
Grid count depends on the square-footage rating of your DES or DEP filter, so count what is in your tank before ordering. If more than one grid is torn, flattened, or stained, replace the full set so the new cloth and the old cloth load DE evenly and your pressure stays balanced.
What material is the grid, and why does it matter?
The cloth is 100 percent polypropylene with a higher-denier yarn and a tighter weave for tuned permeability. Polypropylene resists rot, mildew, and pool-water acids and alkalis, so the grid holds its shape and its filtration performance far longer than a worn or torn OEM grid.
Can I install one of these myself?
Yes. Shut the pump off, bleed pressure at the air relief, open the filter, lift the manifold, and slide the new grid into the same slot through the center exit port. Brush the cloth to wet it, reassemble, and recharge with diatomaceous earth to your filter's square footage rating. Most DIY owners finish a single-grid swap in under an hour.
