Easy Care Pool Tec fall and winter treatment, part EYC36664 and stocked under SKU PST-EYC36664, is a 1/2 gallon concentrate at 30 percent polyquat that works as both an algaecide and a clarifier for pools up to 30,000 gallons. Polyquat concentration is the spec worth comparing, because most winter algaecides sit at 10 or 20 percent and you end up pouring in three times as much for the same protection. Pool Tec performs well on uncovered pools, and it will not break down the stain and scale inhibitors you add at the same closing, so the two treatments are not fighting each other under the cover.

Why does polyquat percentage matter?
Because dose scales with concentration. A 30 percent product needs roughly a third the volume of a 10 percent product for the same result, so comparing bottle sizes without comparing percentages is misleading.
Will it foam?
Polyquat algaecides are the non-foaming class, unlike quaternary ammonium algaecides that can foam badly when the pump kicks on in the spring.
Can I use it on an uncovered pool?
Yes. Pool Tec is specifically noted to work well on uncovered pools, which see more sunlight and therefore more algae pressure over the winter.
