Description
Anderson Manufacturing O55 Standard Open Winterizing Plug for 2 inch Pipe, 1-7/8 inch
Hollow stem rubber plug for blowing out and winterizing 2 inch pool lines.
The Anderson Manufacturing O55 Standard Open Plug (SKU PST-ANDO55) is a 1-7/8 inch straight-sided rubber test plug sized for 2 inch pool plumbing. The hollow stem and combination 1/8 inch NPT thread plus 3/8 inch hose barb top let you pump compressed air through the plug to clear and pressurize return lines, skimmers, and main drains during winterization. Tighten the large corrosion-resistant wingnut to expand the rubber against the pipe wall, blow the line clear, then leave it in place all winter to keep water out.

What is the difference between the O55 (open) and N55 (closed) plug?
Both share the same 1-7/8 inch rubber body for 2 inch pipe. The O55 is open, with a hollow stem and a 1/8 inch NPT / 3/8 inch hose barb top so you can blow air or water through it to clear and pressurize the line. The N55 is closed and seals the pipe completely. Use the O55 when you need to push air through during winterization, and the closed version when you just need to cap a line.
What pipe size does the O55 fit?
The O55 is sized for 2 inch pool plumbing, which has an inside diameter close to 1-7/8 inch. Drop it into 2 inch returns, skimmer ports, and main drain lines, then tighten the wingnut until the rubber expands to a firm seal. For 1-1/2 inch lines, step down to the O45.
Can I install this plug myself for pool winterization?
Yes. Push the plug into the pipe, connect an air blower or shop vac to the 3/8 inch hose barb on top, run air through until the line is clear, then snug the wingnut by hand to lock the seal. No tools required, and the plug is reusable, so you can pull it back out at spring opening and store it for next season.
