Chlorine Handling

Handle spent and fresh cartridges with dry hands, never mix the contents with other chemicals or bromine products, and store cartridges sealed and out of reach of children and pets. Maintain a free chlorine level of roughly 0.5 to 2.0 ppm and a pH of 7.2 to 7.8, and test with FROG-compatible strips, since standard strips can read low on a mineral system and lead you to over-chlorinate.

What size pool does the Flippin' Frog cover?
It is rated for soft-side and above-ground pools from 2,000 to 5,000 gallons, which covers most 12 to 18 foot pools. If your pool holds more than 5,000 gallons, step up to the Flippin' Frog XL, which is built for 5,000 to 10,000 gallon pools.
How does it reduce chlorine use by 50%?
The green mineral cartridge releases EPA-registered minerals that kill bacteria alongside a low level of chlorine. Because the minerals do part of the sanitizing work, chlorine lasts up to twice as long and you use roughly half the chlorine of a standard floating feeder. Keep free chlorine around 0.5 to 2.0 ppm rather than the higher levels a chlorine-only pool needs.
How do I know when to replace the chlorine cartridge?
The floater tells you. When the orange chlorine cartridge runs out, usually every 3 to 4 weeks, the Flippin' Frog flips upside down in the water. Click-twist the empty cartridge off, twist a fresh replacement (King Technology 01-03-8356) on, and set it back in the pool. The mineral cartridge keeps working for the rest of the season.
How long does the mineral cartridge last?
The mineral cartridge lasts 6 months or one pool season, whichever comes first. You replace the chlorine cartridge several times over that period, but the mineral side runs the full season before it needs swapping.
Do I need any tools or plumbing to set it up?
No. The Flippin' Frog is a self-contained floating dispenser with nothing to connect and no tools required. Balance your water, drop the frog in with your filter running, and it doses automatically. It is one of the easiest sanitizing systems to run yourself.

Our pool and spa are over 25 yrs old. When the spa air button stopped working, we found that it was no longer avaliable.
