The Poolguard PGRM-2 In-Ground Pool Alarm is a trusted layer of protection for families with a pool. Using advanced Negative Displacement Technology, it detects when a child, pet, or intruder enters the water and instantly sounds a loud alarm both poolside and inside your home through the included remote receiver. Negative Displacement Technology
The PGRM-2's electronic sensor monitors the water surface for the specific disturbance pattern caused by a body entering the pool. It is designed to detect intrusions weighing roughly 18 pounds or more, similar to a one-year-old child. The smart sensing method requires no manual adjustments and reduces false alarms from wind, rain, or small objects like sticks and toys.
Alarm Sounds Inside Your Home
The included in-house remote receiver sounds the alarm where you actually are, with a wireless range of up to 200 feet from the pool. The 85 dB pulsating alarm is impossible to ignore, whether you are in the kitchen, the living room, or upstairs. If the poolside unit's battery runs low, the remote receiver alerts you to that too.
Always Armed, Tamper Proof
Once installed, the PGRM-2 cannot be casually switched off. It stays in alarm-ready mode at all times, and removing the unit from the pool triggers the alarm. When you want to swim, simply lift it out and place it in Sleep Mode. Drop it back in and it automatically wakes up and runs a full system self-test, so you always know it is working.

What's the difference between the PGRM-2 and the PGRM-SB (SB2)?
The PGRM-2 is designed for permanent in-ground pools and includes the in-home remote receiver. The SB2 is a floating alarm built for above-ground, soft-sided, and portable pools as well as spas. If you have an in-ground pool, the PGRM-2 is the correct model.
Does it come with batteries?
The 12-volt remote receiver includes its power supply. The poolside alarm unit requires one 9-volt battery, which is not included. The 9V battery lasts approximately one year, and you will get an audible low-battery warning before it dies.
Will it false-alarm from wind or rain?
The PGRM-2 uses advanced Negative Displacement Technology specifically designed to ignore disturbances from wind, rain, and small objects like sticks or toys, so genuine alerts are far more reliable.
Can I use it with a solar cover on the pool?
Yes. The Poolguard PGRM-2 is designed to function correctly even when a solar blanket is covering the pool surface.

The PGRM-2 has been tested in a 16' x 32' pool and is rated for pools up to 20' x 40', or 800 square feet of surface area.
Does a pool alarm replace a fence?
No. A pool alarm is one layer of a complete safety plan. It does not replace fencing, self-latching gates, door alarms, or, most importantly, active adult supervision. Layered protection saves lives.
How do I turn it off to go swimming?
Simply lift the alarm unit out of the pool and place it in Sleep Mode. When you are done swimming, return it to the water and it automatically wakes up and self-tests.
