Round Above-Ground Pools

A round above-ground pool gives you the most water for the money and the simplest installation of any pool shape. There is no buttress framing to design around, the load spreads evenly around the wall, and a level pad is all the site prep most yards need. PST Pool Supplies carries the full Doughboy round lineup — eleven sizes from a compact 8' up to a 33' backyard centerpiece, in resin, steel, and hybrid construction.

Start with size, then wall. Round pools come in 8', 12', 15', 16', 18', 21', 24', 27', 28', 30', and 33' diameters — 15' to 18' suits a small family, 24' is the most popular all-round size, and 27' and up gives real room to swim laps and host. Wall heights run 48", 52", and 54"; the 54" wall is worth it if you want a genuine deep end for adults, while 48" and 52" keep the water shallower for younger kids. Every pool here is built by Doughboy, which has been manufacturing above-ground pools in the USA since 1957.

The twelve series differ mainly in wall material and warranty. Delta Dream and Marsh Majesty lead with 60-year warranties, River Bend carries 40 years, Bay Burst Resin and Bay Burst Hybrid 35 years, and Lagoon Luxe and Ocean Current 30 years. On the value end, Lake Vista (25-year) and River Breeze (20-year) are steel-wall pools that start under $1,500, and Rio Grande carries a limited lifetime warranty. Resin resists rust and corrosion where steel eventually does not, which is why the longest warranties sit on the resin walls. Several series are also available with an integrated step. Plan the rest of the build with a replacement liner, a pump and filter, and an above ground winter cover for the off-season. Barrier and safety guidance is published by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance.

Compare every round above-ground pool by size, wall height, and warranty above — or switch to oval pools if your yard is longer than it is wide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size round above-ground pool should I buy?
Match the diameter to your yard and how you will use it. 15' to 18' suits a small family or a compact yard and heats up fast. 24' is the most popular size — enough room for several people to swim without dominating a standard backyard. 27' to 33' gives real space for laps and entertaining, but needs a large level area plus room to walk around the outside. Also leave clearance for the pump, filter, and ladder when you measure.
What is the difference between a 48", 52" and 54" pool wall?
It is the height of the pool wall, which sets your water depth — you typically fill to about 6" below the top rail. A 48" wall gives roughly 42" of water, good for young children. A 52" wall is the most common choice and works for mixed-age families. A 54" wall gives close to 48" of water, which is where the pool starts to feel genuinely deep for adults. Taller walls also hold more water, so plan for a slightly larger filter and more chemicals.
Should I choose a resin, steel or hybrid above-ground pool?
Resin will not rust or corrode, handles poolside chemicals and sprinkler overspray well, and stays cooler to the touch — which is why the longest warranties in this collection (Delta Dream and Marsh Majesty at 60 years, River Bend at 40) are all resin. Steel is stronger per dollar and costs less up front, making Lake Vista and River Breeze good value choices, but it can corrode over time in wet or humid climates. Hybrid combines both, using resin for the components most exposed to moisture.
How long does a round above-ground pool take to install?
The pool itself usually goes up in one to two days with a few people, but site prep is the real work. The pad must be level to within about an inch across the whole diameter — an unlevel pool puts uneven load on the wall and is the most common cause of early failure. Budget a weekend for excavating and leveling, or hire it out. Larger 27'–33' pools and any pool with an integrated step take longer and are worth having installed professionally.
How soon do these pools ship?
Doughboy pools in this collection are listed with a 5–7 day lead time before they leave the warehouse. Because a complete pool kit is a freight shipment rather than a parcel, delivery is scheduled with a carrier and typically arrives curbside — plan to have help available to move the components into the yard. Check the individual product page for the current lead time and see our shipping policy for freight delivery details.
