The Pentair WhisperFlo is one of the most installed residential pool pumps in North America. When it fails, you usually don’t need a whole new pump — you need the specific part that wore out. Here’s the parts breakdown for a typical WhisperFlo and how to identify which replacement you need.
The five most common WhisperFlo replacement parts
- Pump lid o-ring — the #1 cause of pumps losing prime. $10–$15. Replace every 2–3 years even if not visibly damaged.
- Strainer basket — cracks at the handle attachment after 5–7 years of UV exposure.
- Shaft seal kit — leaks between the motor and wet end. Replace whenever you pull the motor.
- Impeller — worn down over time, especially on hard-water pools.
- Motor — the most expensive part; lasts 8–12 years.

WhisperFlo comes in three families: standard WhisperFlo (WFE), WhisperFlo XF (larger commercial), and IntelliFlo VS (variable-speed version of the same wet end). The wet end design is similar across all three, but model-specific parts — impellers, diffusers, seal plates — differ by horsepower and pump generation.
Read the pump nameplate to identify your specific model. Then send PST Pool Supplies the model number and we’ll match the right replacement part.
