Balboa Warranty

Warranty Claim Process

Balboa Water Group sets the warranty-claim standard that other spa-electronics brands now follow. Before a claim on a Balboa control system, topside panel, heater, sensor, or circuit board can be approved, the failure must be properly diagnosed by a certified spa technician. The information below is what our Support team needs to process your claim.

A warranty claim cannot be approved without proper troubleshooting by a certified technician. Please gather the information below before contacting us — it lets us process your claim quickly and helps avoid a “no fault found” rejection.

What you'll need to provide

1.  What happened that led to the part failing?

  • Describe the symptoms and any error or fault codes shown on the topside panel (check the fault log with the spa in test mode).

2.  What steps were taken to confirm the part is defective?

  • Fault / error codes read from the panel
  • Voltage readings through the circuit board and transformer
  • Resistance (ohm) readings on the heater and sensors, checked against the manual's acceptable ranges
  • Results of isolating attached devices — ozonator, lights, pumps, blower — and, where possible, swapping in a known-good test topside panel

3.  Certified spa technician information

  • Business name
  • Phone number
  • Technician's diagnostic notes
  • Service invoice

4.  For heaters

  • Heater and high-limit / temperature sensor ohm readings against spec
  • Confirmation of adequate water flow — is anything restricting the suction or flow line? Balboa heaters run a flow test at start-up, so a flow problem often shows up as a heater fault.

Before you return a part

  • Proof of the original purchase date
  • The unit's serial number, if applicable
  • A Return Authorization (RMA) number — Balboa parts cannot be returned for warranty without prior approval, and the RMA number must be on the box
  • File promptly: claims must be submitted within 60 days of the defect becoming known

How claims are handled

Balboa provides warranty service through the spa manufacturer, distributor, or dealer rather than directly to spa owners. If your control system came installed in a branded spa, your coverage is handled through that spa brand. For Balboa parts purchased from us, contact our Support team and we'll help you start the claim.

Warranty coverage length is set by Balboa Water Group and, for products supplied in a branded spa, by the spa manufacturer; terms vary by product and are subject to change. This page describes the claim process and is provided for convenience only. Information retrieved June 2026.
